It's a Small World Blog Hop hosted by Kinderstampo

Hi everyone!

Welcome to It's a Small World blog hop!! You just visited Meighen at http://scrappin3rdeeschik.blogspot.com/ .  If you would like to start from the beginning, click here.

My projects today focus on the Islamic New year and Christmas.  I was born into a Muslim family and I gave my heart to Christ 5 years ago.  My family and I call each other on special occasions for both faiths and I thought I would honor that today.

First project:
Islamic New Year - This was celebrated this year on December 7th.  It marks the day when Prophet Muhammed began his journey from Mecca to Medina in the Islamic year 1.
The New Year to me symbolizes new beginnings, growth, new promise... I made this project for a close Muslim friend of mine who is going through some tough times and I wanted her to believe in the promise of what the New year will bring for her and to believe in the miracle and wonder of life and her purpose in it - thus, a flower necklace was born.

Flowers Die
Felt
Glue Gun
Rubber Cord
Clasp
Rubber O-rings
Crimp Beads
Wire

Second Project:
Christmas - Celebration of the birth of Christ.
This holiday was always special to me, even on a subliminal level when I was a Muslim...  How significant was the birth of this one man who walked the earth and lived in the moment...
My recently deceased grandmother-in-law was a very special lady.  She was a pistol, let me tell you!  She would always say "I go to bed at 6 in the evening and wake up at 6 in the morning.  Do you know why?  I don't want to miss out on life!"  I made this album below for a two special girls in my husband's family.  It is to record their favorite moments over the next year.

Paper
Chipboard (for the cover)
Paper flowers
Embellishments - brads, lace, ribbon
Envelopes
Various glues and adhesives

Hope you enjoyed the projects!
The next stop on the blog hop is: Linda over at www.krazyquilling.com

much love
