Creating The Crafty Life's Spring Fever Blog Hop!

My Spring Fever Project is a 6X3 tag that I made out of flashing - yes, flashing - that I got from the hardware store.  This stuff is amazing!  You can emboss it, die cut it, paint it - endless hours of fun!!
Details below on the making of this tag:

I embossed the flashing using my script embossing folder.  I then used a butterfly die on the flashing and then embossed the butterflies with a swirl embossing folder.  I rounded the top corners of the tag using a corner chomper and punched a hold in the top center for the ribbon.
Using glossy accents, I adhered a cut piece of silver mesh bling and some washers from the hardware store.  Roughly gessoed over the tag and butterflies not worrying about covering everything.
Once everything dried, I sprayed Lindy's Stamp Gang Starburst sprays and Flat Fabio colors on the tag and butterflies, drying between each color.  I did the same for the white lace and the cream ribbon - colored them to match the tag.
The sentiment was printed out, embossed, distressed using Tim Holtz distress inks, and sprayed for glimmer.
I used hot glue to attach everything to the tag and then added flowers and beads.
Tada!!!!

Arty Addicts Technique Blog Hop

Hi everyone!!!  Happy Friday!!!!!!!!

Welcome to the Artsy Addicts Technique Blog Hop!
You should have come here from M-C Graves.  The next stop is Flora Garcia-Alvarez.

My technique is a couple of things combined as a starting point for various projects......  I will show you how I attach paper to chipboard and then make it vintage...  See this post for an example of finished projects using this technique.

I started out with a piece of chipboard (mine happened to be a 4" by 4" piece as I was making more magnets!!)

I used glue to adhere the paper to the chipboard and evened everything out using a brayer.  When gluing the paper down, I used 2 edges - less to trim later!  Also, don't worry about glue on the front of the DP.  It will act as a resist when distressing and add to the vintage look.  (You'll see what I mean...)

Trim time!  (See what I mean about less to trim?) :)

I sanded the sides and corners.  I like to round out the corners a bit.  Why?  I have no idea.  I just like the look :)  The DP turns a little white at the sanded edges and this is perfect for the vintage look.

Above is my 'recipe' for the vintage look...  First I used Tea Dye on the sides and corners and lightly on the inside.  Then I used Vintage Photo on the corners and edges.  Finally, I used a light hand of Black Soot on the corners.

Finished look below.  See how the dried glue acts as a resist for the inks?  So fun!

I made two projects for this hop.

--My very first 12X12 layout.
It is a really simple layout but I love it!!!  I am finally getting started on our wedding album, almost FIVE years later!!!

This is the picture I will be adding to the photo mat after playing with it in Photoshop.

--My second project is an easel 'Thank You' card.  I had a lot of fun coloring in my fairy :)
